With the expansion of EV charging and operation flourishing, many communities find themselves wanting to take part in the new way of travel. This includes smaller communities such as those belonging to indigenous nations are also finding ways to catch up on the shift to electric travel, and one such community organization is Electric Nation. The Electric Nation, created by the Native Sun Community Power Development, seeks to connect tribal communities through the installation of EV charging infrastructure along highways and roads between these communities. Native Sun Community Power Development is a solar workforce and a “native-led nonprofit dedicated to advancing energy efficiency, renewable energy, and an equitable energy transition.” Their goals aim for the empowerment of and expanded access for indigenous communities to embrace sustainable practices through education, workforce training, and hands-on demonstrations.
