The Virginia Sheriffs’ Association is proud to announce that beginning Saturday, August 15, 2026, public agencies will have access to a large and very comprehensive Heavy Equipment Procurement.
Through this expanded program, government agencies can access thousands of competitively bid equipment items at highly competitive contract pricing. The program supports the diverse operational needs of cities, counties, towns, public works departments, utilities, transportation departments, schools, public-safety agencies, and other eligible public bodies.
Available equipment includes, but not limited to:
- Aerial bucket trucks; attenuator and crash-protection vehicles; cameras; radar speed monitors and trailers; message signs; lighting; safety devices and equipment; and warning and mass-notification systems
- Chassis and trucks; platform bodies and flatbeds; dump inserts; liftgates; roll-off cable and hooklift systems; roll-off containers; container carriers; vehicle-mounted cranes; tarping systems; toolboxes; trailers; bodies; and van equipment
- Excavators; loaders; tractors; tool carriers; digger derricks; trenchers and plows; hydraulic bucket machines; hydraulic breakers and hammers; pull scrapers; compactors; drum rollers; walk-behind rollers; and asphalt maintenance and recycling equipment
- Mowers; mulching equipment; leaf and debris collection equipment; sweepers; snow equipment; and tack distributors
- Combination jet vacuum rodding machines; sewer cleaners; sewer easement machines; underground pipeline inspection equipment; valve exercisers; pumps; and fuel tanks
Refuse and recycling roll-out carts; industrial waste and recycling equipment; and related collection equipment - Garage equipment; hoists; vehicle lifts; generators; mobile air compressors; and much more
The VSA Heavy Equipment Procurement Program is designed to make public purchasing more efficient by providing access to contracts that have already undergone a competitive solicitation and award process. This helps agencies reduce administrative demands, shorten procurement timelines, and obtain essential equipment at competitive pricing, subject to each purchasing agency’s applicable procurement requirements.

If that applies to you, we respectfully ask that you forward this announcement to the individuals within your city, county, town, agency, or public body who procure equipment for public works, utilities, solid waste and recycling, fleet operations, transportation, facility maintenance, construction, or other governmental functions.
Helping public agencies procure essential equipment efficiently is central to the VSA’s mission. Every purchase made through these contracts also helps the Association continue supporting Virginia’s hardworking sheriffs and their dedicated staffs, who work tirelessly each day to protect and serve our communities.
Beginning August 15, agencies can explore available equipment, awarded contractors, contract pricing, discounts, specifications, and supporting procurement documents through the VSA Heavy Equipment Procurement Program.
