Last Friday the Virginia Clean Cities team had the opportunity to bring a group of stakeholders
to the Frito-Lay distribution center in Richmond. Located on the eastern side of town by the
airport, this facility serves central Virginia’s snack cravings.
Frito-Lay is moving to an all-electric fleet here, using mostly sprinter vans and a few box
trucks. In order to implement this, they used two VCC stakeholders, Autoflex Fleet and Atom
Power, to install 58 Level 2 and two DC fast chargers in their parking lot.
The event featured a talk with the facility operations manager, a question and answer
session with Atom Power and a tour of the stations. It was great to see this private sector green fleet in
action!
